| Andrei Malaev-Babel
(STS Producing Artistic
Director) holds an M.F.A. from the renowned Schukin Theater School of the
Vakhtangov Theater in Moscow, Russia. For five years, he trained and worked
under Alexandra Remizova, the distinguished Russian actress-director and
co-founder of the Vakhtangov Theater who was an original student of
Stanislavsky and the protégé of Vakhtangov.
In 1985, he
co-founded the Moscow Chamber Forms Theater, one of the first private
professional companies in Russia. For eight years he served as Artistic
Director, directing and performing in every production, and heading the
company's conservatory. In 1991, he directed the Chamber Forms' co-production
of The Death of Tarelkin, a satirical farce by Alexander Subkhovo-Kobylin,
which was presented the same year in Moscow and Los Angeles in a bi-lingual
American-Russian production.
He has taught workshops in the Stanislavsky/Vakhtangov and Michael Chekhov acting methods for several training programs,
and most recently served on the faculties of Catholic University and Villa
Julie College. He is a master teacher at the International Michael Chekhov
Conference and is a board member for the
Michael Chekhov Association
(MICHA).
For STS, he co-directed and/or played leading roles in
Kashtanka,
The Miraculous Magical Balloon, The Little Tragedies, The Shadow, The Idiot,
The Good Doctor, Le Malade Imaginaire, Faust, Don Quixote, Dead
Souls, and Filumena. He
is the author of a chapter in the recently published edition of Michael
Chekhov's seminal book, To the Actor. For STS's production
of The Idiot, he received the 2000 Helen Hayes Award Nomination for
Outstanding Direction.

Sarah Kane
(Artistic Associate, Acting and Speech) trained in theatre and voice
in Germany, Switzerland and the UK, specializing in the approach
developed by the Russian actor and teacher, Michael Chekhov, and in
the voice and speech technique taught in Chekhov’s training program,
Creative Speech, developed by Rudolf and Marie Steiner.
Alongside her work with two ensemble theatre companies, Ms. Kane directed
a one-year intensive speech and acting program at Emerson College, UK,
for seven years. In 1995, she set up the Michael Chekhov Centre UK, to
develop and research Chekhov’s methods in workshops and production.
Since 1996, she has taught and directed in the UK, Canada, Croatia,
Finland, Germany, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland, and has
been a faculty member of the
MICHA (Michael Chekhov Association)
International Michael Chekhov Conferences in Connecticut and the
Teacher Training Program in New York, specializing in speech and
voice. She is Vice-President of MICHA.
She collaborated with STS on their production of Dead Souls in 2000, and
worked on voice and speech for the revivals of Don Quixote and
Faust in the 2001-2 season. She joined STS for the 2002-3 season as resident
consultant for acting and speech, and teaches in the MFA acting
program at the Catholic University of America.

Roland Reed is the STS
Playwright-in-Residence. At STS, he has co-adapted, with Andrei Malaev-Babel,
Gogol's Dead Souls, Goethe's Faust, Molière's
Le Malade Imaginaire,
Dostoevsky's The Idiot, Pushkin's The Little Tragedies, and Shvarts'
The
Shadow. Having directed more than 100 major productions and many staged
readings of new plays, he is the recipient of several awards, including the
1987 Kennedy Center Award for Excellence. He has co-directed, with Marsha
Gardner, Stages, the play development wing of the Signature Theater, and is an
Associate Professor of Drama at Catholic University. |

Evgenia Luzhina-Salazar,
Founding Designer. Evgenia is a graduate of the Moscow College of
Arts. She has extensive experience in theatrical set, costume and
interior design. Her latest Art exhibit was 2000 MVF Resident Art,
Craft and Photography Show, at the North Creek Community Center, MD,
where she received 1st award in Oils and Acrylic and an Honorable
Mention. Evgenia is represented by Agora Gallery of Broadway, NY.
For Stanislavsky Theater Studio Evgeniya designed costumes for
productions of Brothers Karamazov, Filumena, Dead
Souls, Don Quixote and The Miraculous Magical Balloon
as well as the set and costumes for Anton Chekhov's Kashtanka,
Alexander Pushkin's The Little Tragedies, and Shadow
by Evgeny Shvarts. For five years, she served as the Resident Set
and Costume Designer for the Moscow Chamber Forms Theater. There,
she designed numerous productions, including The Death of
Tarelkin by Alexandre Sukhovo-Kobylin, and Oh Dad, Poor Dad
by Arthur Kopit, both of which were staged in Los Angeles and
Moscow. She served as Principle Set and Costume Designer for the
Hallam Theater of the Prince George's Community College.

Jessica Cerullo is an honorary Studio Member of the
Stanislavsky Theater Studio where she performed in Filumena, Dead
Souls, Don Quixote, Faust and The Little Tragedies. She has
also worked at other theaters such as the Folger Theater, the Kennedy
Center, Horizons Theater and the Flock Theater. She teaches acting at
Prince George's Community College and is the Managing Director of
MICHA,
the Michael Chekhov Association. Also a teacher of Yoga she offers
classes at various studios in the DC area. She trained at the National
Theater Institute in Moscow, London and in Connecticut. See

| Boris Kazinets is an
Honorary Company Member at STS, where
he has performed in Faust, Dead Souls, The Idiot, and Le Malade Imaginaire, and
has been acting professionally for 50 years. He graduated from G.I.T.I.S. (The
Theater Academy) in Moscow, Russia and performed with numerous companies
throughout Russia and Europe, including Austria and Hungary. Prior to his
arrival in the United States in 1991, he enjoyed 25 years tenure as a company
member at the renowned Griboedov Drama Theater in Tbilisi, Republic of Georgia.
During his career he performed some 250 roles in plays by Chekhov, Gorky,
Gogol, Lope de Vega and Calderon de la Barca. He also performed numerous roles
in film and television and served on the faculty of the Rustaveli Theatre and
Cinema Institute in Tbilisi. In the United States, he performed with The
Wandering Stars, the renowned Russian-American theater company in New York. He
has been honored with many prestigious theater awards, including the Title of
the People's Artist of Georgia, the highest theatrical title in the Republic of
Georgia. |

| Temur Tsaguria (Honorary
Company Member) is one of the
most popular performance artists and composers in the Republic of Georgia. For
STS he directed singing and performed in Le Malade Imaginaire and Little
Tragedies. In 1978, he was Laureate of the Soviet Song Musical Competition, an
all-union competition among 5,000 participants in Moscow. For 20 years, he was
Principal Soloist in the Orchestra of the Georgian National Radio and
Television, and a soloist of the Georgian State Philharmonic
Orchestra. |
